McFly kicks are reborn
Don’t know how this slipped under my radar, but auction ended on September 18th. All proceeds went to help the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
There were only 1,500 pairs available. The fact that they are auction only at this point makes them even hotter. How much did they sell for? One pair sold to Tinie Tempah (who the hell is that?) for $37,500!

Watson makes debut on JEOPARDY
PressCoverage: Yesterday was the much-heralded debut of WATSON on the fantastic game show Jeopardy! (the exclamation point is theirs, not mine). The half-hour program was basically an ad for IBM with a few questions sprinkled throughout, so hopefully the next two nights of man-vs.-man-vs.-machine will be more about the actual game and less about the giant server room that houses the dozens of racks it takes to make Watson intuitive.
The process is pretty neat, and there’s a little bit of that in this video (though I only put that in to show everyone that one of Watson’s initial choices for a question about non-dairy creamer was LPGA golfer Paula Creamer, which automatically qualifies Watson as one of the biggest LPGA supporters on the planet.) Still, there was a category about sports on the show last night, so here are all the sports parts.
Are you going to watch Watson tonight?

Daringfireball.net: Fascinating app, rejected by Apple from the App Store.
How do I play?
Click on the Play tab. Then click Increase Your Level. You will be presented with a list of level upgrades you can purchase with real money. So there’s really no skill involved?
None at all! The person who pays us the most wins. The rest are displayed on a leaderboard in descending order.Does my money get me anything besides a higher spot on the leaderboard?
When you increase your level you can enter a custom message. All other players can see this when you’re on leaderboard. The top payer player becomes the “Head Honcho,” and their (inevitably more important) message will be the first thing everyone sees when they boot the app.
I can see why Apple rejected it, but that’s actually a very clever idea.

What Twitter?
Check out the 3rd point in the "Happy New Year" email ESPNish just got from Twitter. Little weird?
