Stern throws down on CP

ESPN - The New Orleans Hornets and Los Angeles Clippers submitted a multiplayer blockbuster deal to the NBA on Sunday that would send All-Star point guard Chris Paul to Los Angeles, a source with knowledge of the discussions said Monday. But the trade as presented has one hitch: The league, which owns the Hornets, wanted Eric, while the Clippers want to keep their point guard, the source said.
The deal would be done if the league hadn't asked for Bledsoe, according to the source. The trade as submitted would cost the Clippers guard Eric Gordon, center Chris Kaman and forward Al-Farouq Aminu. It would also include Minnesota's first-round draft pick in 2012. The Los Angeles Times, citing two sources familiar with the discussions, reported late Sunday the deal included Bledsoe, but the source told ESPN that is not so. The Times' report said both parties were in the final stages of negotiations and that the NBA will likely review the deal Monday. A source close to Paul said he has decided to pick up the option on his contract as part of the potential deal, meaning he would be in Los Angeles through at least the 2012-2013 season.
The Fix Was On
This whole thing was obviously fixed and it goes deeper than just this story from TMZ.
1. KIA is the headlining car sponsor of the NBA.
2. What if Blake Griffin didn't make the final round?
a. He had a whole Choir (on payroll) to sing for him on his final dunk.
b. Would they get paid if he didn't make the finals?
3. See below.
4. Griffin had Kenny Smith as his coach, an announcer for the TNT network which broadcasts the All-Star game.
5. McGee, who did make the finals, put-up this as his final dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yhXcXEifUc - 8:20 mark), and blamed it's weakness on his original idea being stolen in the first round. Ah, no dude, you were told to lose by the NBA and you put up the weakest final dunk possible.
Blake Griffin is under attack from a fan who claims he FED the Clippers star the idea for the car-jumping alley-oop ... a fan who says he's been snubbed ever since this weekend's Dunk Contest.
The guy with the gripe is Michael Scrivner -- who claims he was watching ESPN earlier this month when he saw Griffin asking fans for dunk ideas ... so he fired off a twitter message to Blake on Feb. 8 specifically outlining the car dunk -- complete with the pass from inside the sun roof.
Now, Scrivner is PISSED that Griffin hasn't given him any credit for the idea -- telling TMZ, "He could have at least given me a shout out!”
Scrivner adds, "If he already had the idea for the dunk, why go on SportsCenter asking for ideas? It would be one thing if I had said to just dunk over a car, but the dunk was spot on everything I suggested.”
So far, no comment from Griffin's camp.
Update: Oh yeah, it was in LA that this all went down.
23 Things about Jordan you might not know
Happy Birthday MJ.
A little bonus did you know: Jim Brown also was born on Feb 17
1) Jordan started the trend of the long-length shorts. He claims he wore them that length so he could cover up his North Carolina shorts, which he always wore during his pro career. However, his style caught on, and soon mostly everyone wore their shorts at a longer length.
2) According to CelebrityNetWorth.com Michael Jordan is worth $500 million.
3) Topped “Forbes” magazine’s “The 10 Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces”, with an estimated settlement of $168 million.
4) Jordan was voted in as an All-Star starter by the fans in his rookie season. Controversy arose before the All-Star game when word surfaced that several veteran players, led by Isiah Thomas, were upset by the amount of attention Jordan was receiving. This led to a so called “freeze-out” on Jordan, where players refused to pass him the ball throughout the game.
5) In his first game in Madison Square Garden as a rookie against the New York Knicks, Jordan received a prolonged standing ovation, a rarity for an opposing player.
6) A new rule was invented where a player could take one extra step if he was in the process of shooting, passing, or driving to the hoop. This rule came into effect because Jordan would do this quite often in his career without getting a traveling call.
7) In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN, and was second to Babe Ruth on the Associated Press’s list of athletes of the century.
8) He fouled out 10 times in his career.
9) An academic study found that Jordan’s first NBA comeback resulted in an increase in the market capitalization of his client firms of more than $1 billion.
10) At the height of his career the Detroit Pistons utilized their “Jordan Rules” method of guarding Jordan, which consisted of double and triple teaming him every time he touched the ball.

Landry Fields as Modell’s Employee
Landy "Leroy Jenkins" Fields is a funny guy. I have to say Modell's is doing well with this idea. First it was Danny Woodhead and now Landry Fields.
Don't run out and get this jersey yet Knicks fans. The rumor has it that Landry would be packaged in the Carmelo deal with Denver. The Melo saga continues....

Spud Webb schools D-League duds
Spud: “Yo white boy hold my jacket. Time to go to work. I have to show these D League chumps why they are just a bunch of pickup basketball players.
After the dunk: “Take your $35,000 "professional" salaries back to your trailer and be happy to tell your kids you know me. How you like my double pump bitches?”
